Haircut

Short Fiction by J.R. Murdock.

When I started this story, I thought "What would you do if you knew the world was about to end?" Personally I'd panic, but this story looks at it from a couple of people who don't. They go about their lives just like nothing is going wrong.

This story appeared in Aoife's Kiss. This was my first print sale and the second publication I received with my name in it. The publisher had a lot of great things to say about this story. I hope you enjoy it.

Stan's Mirror

Short Fiction by J.R. Murdock.

I wrote this story about a month after I wrote a 55 word story for Club 55. The story (below) entitled Stan's Dilema spured me to see how Stan dealt with his life afterwards.

Stan’s hover car jerked and bumped as loudly as his pregnant wife in the back seat screamed. The controls had stopped responding and smoke trailed from its rear. There was no time to save himself and his wife. After pulling the ejection lever and watching the fiery crash, he knew he’d made the wrong choice.

Granted I didn't want to do it as a sci-fi and you'll see that after you listen to the story. This story, althogh I've gone back and edited it, appeared in LightHouse Media One's anthology Maelstrom #1

This was my first work to see actual print. Not my first print sale as my first print sale didn't see print for many months after I'd sold it. I'm still proud of this story even though it did need some editing. I hope you like it too.

Where are all the Gods?

Short Fiction by J.R. Murdock.

The idea for this story came while listen to the Shrek 2 sound track and I had to hear 'Holding out for a Hero' twice on that CD. The line '..and where are all the gods?' got me to thinking, where are all the gods? and what would someone do if they suddenly showed up? I laughed and wrote this story the very next day.

It's been said this is vaguely similar to Neil Gaiman's America Gods, but I've still not read that book and claim no influence of that work on this one.

Let me know how you like it.
